One month old

Titus at one month has been to a fireworks show, watched some Cardinals baseball with his dad, likes to be swaddled, has had some great nights of sleep, likes to go for walks, grunts and farts when waking up, doesn't like garlic, still has amazingly great hair :), likes baths until his hair is being rinsed, napped with Gramps, and likes warm milk.

news - I got a part time job for after maternity leave!! So excited about this! God provided this -  the day I went into labor I was told about the possibility and my supportive supervisor and coworker made sure I could be considered for he position, so I had a phone interview when I wasn't allowed to drive yet, but I got a job. I'll be supporting relatives who are caring for kids. Pretty excited to be home with Titus as much as possible! So my adoption caseworker days are done... sort of hard to believe.

so loved

So many people to meet!

Thank you so much friends and family for prayers, meals, encouragement, advice, breaks, coming to visit, doing laundry and dishes, cleaning our house, and endless support!!

Titus Jack Atherton

Our little prince was born! I started having contractions on the way home from work on July 9th. Contractions that actually continued; for a week and a half I had been thinking our little boy was going to show up, during fireworks, a movie, walking the mall multiple days, but no he was waiting for his dad to make pioneer woman peach crisp for his mom, who could only eat a couple bites because it was then time to head to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital pretty close to midnight and things were going well. I spent a couple hours in the tub and then was ready to push! Well after 4 hours of pushing I was tired of pushing. I should have ate more peach crisp :) I got an epidural, then was told I could have hours more of pushing. I did a little more pushing and then we decided to meet our son and had a c-section. It wasn't in the plan originally, but then Titus Jack was finally here and really that was the most important part of the plan.

So I was laying there, waiting for Dave to be brought in for the birth of our son, and just trying to keep my eyes open, thinking I'm going to sleep through the birth of our child... but they quickly brought Dave in and at 6:23am we saw Titus' sweet full head of hair!

Aunt Megan was at the hospital with us for the night,  thankfully Titus came before she had to go to work. One of nurses was impressed how knowledgeable she was about newborns compared to other "photographers."

Our little family.

Holding him for the first time.

waiting on baby

I'm not a girl who runs on time, especially for church.
I am a girl who keeps her schedule full... slowed down a little bit while being pregnant. I like to be around people most of the time, while my husband needs his alone time. I worked from home one day this week and went back to work to have the people interaction the next day.

I'm about to have one of the biggest life changing events happen to me and it's the 4th of July. I want to get out of the house, be social, but walking hurts my feet/calves... but it starts contractions, which is good, just keeping them going hasn't happened over the past couple of days.

My dad came over yesterday and hung our curtains in the nursery.

We went to clement park last night for fireworks, my hubby worked it out so I'd have minimal walking and he had to jog 7 miles to get to watch the fireworks. They were a good little show, it felt great to be outside, on a blanket with my man, dreaming of this little boy's life.

I took Castor oil this morning, wow, yes. Now for a girl that has every negative side effect of pregnancy for pretty much the whole of the past 9 months, you'd think  I'd never be willing to touch the stuff, but a 4th of July baby sounds great. Well we're at 4+ hours later of drinking the stuff and... nothing. impressive for this body/girl who has "special needs." So I'm going to get off the couch again, bake some cookies and we'll see if we have news to share.

we have a onesie that he won't fit in next year, that says it's his first "4th of July." I'm just saying.

it's only 5 days after due date, but the anticipation is growing we're ready to meet him, hold him, see his sweet face, tell you all this name.
Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. Is 30:18
